OUR MISSION
The Dogwood Jack Russell Terrier Club (DJRTC) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the many benefits of the Jack Russell Terrier breed. These energetic and intelligent dogs have a rich history, having been utilized for poison-free vermin control on farms, drug detection, search and rescue operations, and the management of the invasive brown tree snake in Guam. By leveraging the unique skills of Jack Russell Terriers, we provide environmentally friendly solutions to challenges faced by farmers, law enforcement, first responders, and various industries.
Beyond their practical applications, we are deeply committed to youth engagement. The DJRTC Youth Program offers children and teens opportunities to be active outdoors while exercising and training their Jack Russells. Through this program, young participants learn responsibility, animal care, and valuable life skills that will serve them well into adulthood.
Our organization fosters a strong sense of community among Jack Russell enthusiasts. Through events, fundraisers, and educational initiatives, we create an inclusive and welcoming environment where members can connect, share knowledge, and celebrate their passion for these remarkable dogs.
To Preserve and Protect the Working Jack Russell Terrier
As an affiliate club of the Jack Russell Club of America we strive to protect and preserve the unique characteristics and working heritage of this unique terrier. The DJRTC is opposed to recognition of the Jack Russell Terrier by any kennel club or all-breed registry. Recognition, as evidenced in other breeds, will be detrimental to the preservation of the Jack Russell as the sound, intelligent strain of working terrier it has been for more than 100 years.
